The Tinglewood Carvings can be found at Orr Park in Montevallo, Alabama. The carvings are an example of taking something that has been destroyed and preserving it into something beautiful.
In 1993 a storm destroyed several of the older trees in the park. Arist, Tim Tingle, got permission to carve the trees and began creating a magical wonderland.
There are now over 40 carvings around the park. Don’t worry about the living trees They’re left to grow and thrive. Tingle only turns dying trees into these beautiful works of art.
Orr Park is a perfect place to take a walk and enjoy the beauty that has been preserved here.
Along with the carving you’ll find two playgrounds, a walking trail, picnic areas and even Shoal Creek where you can wade in the water during the warm spring and summer days in Alabama.
The carvings in Orr Park have also inspired an annual festival, apprpriately called, Tinglewood Festival which celebrates the art and culture of the city of Montevallo.
